Luigi Pillittu - The Families

Artist Luigi Pillitu, a painter and sculptor originally from Santadi, lives and has a workshop in Assemini at 6 Via Alghero. He is highly regarded both regionally and nationally. He has created monuments and significant works in many places: in Sardinia, in Muravera and Villaspeciosa; on the mainland, in the province of Reggio Emilia, such as the frescoes in the Teatro Comunale in Rio Saliceto and the war memorial in Grattatici; and another work in Correggio, to name just a few. He is also featured in the permanent exhibition at the National Museum of Italian Naifs. His art is truly naïve, an artistic expression that characterizes the self-taught artist, a spontaneous art that does not follow imposed stylistic rules, but represents reality in a simple manner.
