Description of the work
Description of the work
Flowers as an independent subject began to appear in still lifes, a genre that emerged in the early 17th century. Subsequently, painters, especially the Impressionists, increasingly focused on the floral world as an extraordinary opportunity to capture vibrant colors and light. Thus, flowers were depicted not only in vases, but also immersed in their natural landscape. While initially a pretext for painters to attempt a photographic reproduction of reality, with contemporary art, the subject of flowers also became a way of interpreting reality.
In her work, painter Luisa Borin consistently adheres to a cursive, immediate stylistic form, which consistently ensures a fresh execution. In particular, rather than a structural function of color, Luisa Borin prefers a more diluted technique, with transparent glazes, which tends toward a rarefied and ethereal lyricism.
Luisa Borin, known professionally as Gigì, was born in 1952 in a small village in the Po Valley. She began painting as a self-taught artist in 1999. She presented her first works at Soave Castle, where she met the critic Pier Antonio Trattenero, who mentored her on her artistic journey. She has participated in several competitions and solo exhibitions.
