The centre of the composition is a mirror and a winged figure, a reference to a metaphysical force, which sits absorbed, intent on unrolling a spindle, an archaic instrument used to spin wool through a rhythmic movement from top to bottom and vice versa.

The repetitive action she performs reveals itself to be an analogical metaphor of the incessant movement of the mind which, closed in on itself, envelops and unravels the threads of the same thought, often leading it to the same conclusion.

Locked in this uninterrupted dialogue, the transcendental capacity of intuition, symbolized by the blue bird that rests lightly and motionless on the throne, is incapable of perceiving the sunlight, hidden by the dense web that the logical thread has knotted, thus depriving the psyche of the possibility of looking deeply into the crystalline mirror, which in fact remains empty, and of glimpsing what lies above, beyond the known.
