Malpol - Caribbean

The work has a marked expressionist vocation, which tends to emphasize the expression of emotions. Expressionist art seeks to proclaim its moods to the world and flaunt them with passion. Formally, this translates into a summary rendering of the figures, through a very nervous and animated line, as well as the use of a violent color palette. These characteristics are found in the historical avant-garde movements of expressionism: Fauvism and the Die Brucke movement in Germany.

Unlike most of Malpol's work, this work presents an expressionist language. The representation, with a markedly tribal feel, is based on an extreme synthesis of the subject within an aggressive coloristic context with an emotional-spiritual character. It is a type of representation that finds some inspiration in the art of the Fauves.

Paolo Malossini, known professionally as Malpol, was born in Riva del Garda in 1951 and lives in the hamlet of Varone. His interest in painting began in the 1980s thanks to his association with the painters of the "Borgo di Calvola" and the "Casa degli artisti di Tenno." He then began his career as a self-taught artist. Since 2011, he has been a member of the "Amici dell'arte" group in Riva del Garda.
