Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
As we can see from this painting, Marcello Giambi Bonacci's style is entirely based on color and a style that can certainly be defined as Divisionist-inspired. The space is completely two-dimensional, and phenomenal reality is represented through small chromatic patches. It is up to the viewer's eye to reconstruct the image. The composition is unified by the predominant hues of blue and black.
Marcello Giambi Bonacci is an artist whose language can be considered a reinterpretation of Divisionism in a more contemporary and abstract key.
