Marco Cavallo: Re-Volta

Ri-Volta is the name of this blue horse that leads a group of female riders in Arab dress. The setting is the warm, semi-desert landscape, the space is open, and so is the ride of these women, modern-day Amazons who follow their own laws, not those imposed on them by others. They are unarmed.
The parallel with mental illness is provided by the horse (named Marco Cavallo), a very important figure in the 1970s for the patients of the Trieste mental asylum, who built it so tall and powerful and then followed it in procession outside the asylum. They too were unarmed.
