Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
Artist Piergiorgio Zuppini sought to portray glimpses and views of a domestic dimension linked to farm work or seaside villages. He did so with a traditional approach that led him to embrace a simple yet effective realism, made up of solitary places filled with light. Even in this lithograph, one can see how the main characteristic of Zuppini's views is an intense use of white. The white of the light, reflecting on the walls of the houses, predominates in the composition, almost transfiguring reality. This allowed the artist to convey the warmth of a sun-drenched space through the use of colors full of luminous vibrations.
Artist Piergiorgio Zuppini, who passed away in 1990, distinguished himself for his simple and direct style, creating a genuinely realistic approach to art. In his work, sensory information is not idealized but rather reproduced as it is in reality. His palette is characterized by an intense use of white, which fills his subjects with light.
