Description of the work
Description of the work
The work is a prime example of the style of Roman painter Mario Pinizzotto. His distinctive characteristic is the construction of the composition's framework using a thin, black line. This taut line makes the subjects vibrant and, at the same time, highlights their volumes and features in a highly distinctive manner. The painter distributes the color over this framework, always using a fine hatching that fills the fields with compact areas of bright hues.
Mario Pinizzotto was born in Rome in 1929. He trained in Paris, where he attended the Academy of Fine Arts. He was assistant set designer at the Stadttheater in Zurich and artistic director at Art Studios ADAG in Lugano. He participated in the National Exhibition at the Palazzo Reale in Milan and in the Quadrennial Exhibitions in Rome (1964) and London (1968). His works are included in major collections around the world, including the Church of San Pietro in Taverna in the Canton of Ticino, the Museum of Modern Art in Rome, and the collections of Harry Iwarsson Lindinge (Sweden), Tartaglia Arte (Rome), and Verena Ruegg (Zurich), among others.
