Landscape painting plays a central role in Mario Puopolo's work; in his seascapes and urban views, the painter manages to strike a chord with his subjects, transcending simple depiction to engage with a social discourse dear to the artist. Indeed, especially in his early years, he often depicts seafarers and a life free from urbanization.

Mario Puopolo's style, throughout his career, remains strongly realistic. However, he manages to introduce a lyrical and dramatic vein into his work precisely through his choice of colors. Puopolo works with light, almost transparent glazes, which characterize the scenes with delicate nuances and a magical atmospheric haze, or imbue them with an impressionist freshness. Mario Puopolo is a Roman painter. He began painting at a very young age, following the advice of his first teachers, Mario Barberis and Luigi Polverini. At just 13, he painted a portrait of Pius XI, a painting that was later given to the Pope upon his accession to the papacy. After the war, he joined the "Gruppo Romano," with which he participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions. He received various awards, including the "Michetti Prize," the "Vasto Prize," and the "Garda Prize."
