Description of the work
Description of the work
In the painting "Animals in the Stable," Allegretti captures a scene of rural life. Chickens, with their white and yellow plumage, move about the barn, while a cow peacefully feeds on hay. Sheep, stretched out on the straw, rest peacefully, immersed in an atmosphere of absolute calm. Allegretti's style is figurative, with a skillful interplay of light and shadow that enhances the animals' vivid colors, contrasting sharply with the dark background. The gray stone and dark ceiling provide a backdrop for the luminosity of the creatures, such as the white cow and the pale-coated sheep. Mario Rosario Allegretti was born in 1945 but emigrated with his family to Venezuela at the age of nine. There, he developed his passion for art. He returned to Italy in 1960 and immersed himself completely in the Neapolitan tradition. He is considered one of the heirs of the Posillipo School. He passed away in Naples in 2008.
