Description of the work
Description of the work
Flowers as a subject in themselves began to appear in still lifes, a genre that emerged in the early 17th century. Subsequently, painters, especially the Impressionists, increasingly focused on the floral world as an extraordinary opportunity to capture vibrant colors and light. Thus, flowers began to appear not only in vases, but also immersed in their natural landscape. While initially a pretext for painters to attempt a photographic reproduction of reality, with contemporary art, the subject of flowers also becomes a way of interpreting reality.
In this painting, we see how Mario Soave's artistic language places more importance on the composition itself than on the naturalistic rendering of the landscape. Indeed, the subject's interpretation appears schematic, almost stereotypical. But it is on a formal level that Soave truly expresses his value. Through meticulous painting, which pursues every minimal chromatic and luminous value, the work becomes a riot of color. Tonal values and those of light are crucial to creating a composition of great harmony and balance, which also frames the static nature of the subject.
Mario Soave was born in Forte dei Marmi in 1955, where he currently resides. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards and recognitions, and has always enjoyed great critical and public acclaim. His works appear in numerous collections, both Italian and international. After an initial period of experimentation, Mario Soave devoted himself primarily to landscape painting.
