Description of the work
Description of the work
Flowers as an independent subject began to appear in still lifes, a genre that emerged in the early 17th century. Subsequently, painters, especially the Impressionists, increasingly focused on the floral world, as an extraordinary opportunity to capture vibrant colors and light. Thus, flowers were depicted not only in vases, but also immersed in their natural landscape. While initially a pretext for painters to attempt a photographic reproduction of reality, with contemporary art, the subject of flowers also became a way of interpreting reality.
The stylistic language of the painter Mariolino da Caravaggio in his more classical subjects draws inspiration from a lively naturalism. The artist possesses a remarkable technique that allows him to effortlessly reproduce objects, delineate them sculpturally, and seek spatial depth. He is a painter with a classical bent, but his brushstrokes possess a certain expressionist verve that gives his works immediacy and freshness. This is also contributed to by his taste for vibrant colors, always based on brilliant hues, through which he captures sudden flashes of light. The space is always composed in perfect chromatic balance, in which the object becomes the absolute protagonist.
Mariolino Feraboli was an artist originally from Caravaggio in the province of Bergamo, born in 1923 and died in 1992. Better known as Mariolino da Caravaggio or the Forger, he was a painter specialized in the reproduction of author copies and still lifes; his works appear in numerous private collections.
