The artist seeks to go beyond what is perceived by the senses to extract the true essence of the subject and convey it on the canvas in a lively and emotional manner. For this reason, through the application of color, he develops a highly synthesised process, in which the painter's emotionality is also a key feature, conveyed through his agitated gestures. Despite this markedly synthetic and expressionistic nature of the work, Mariolino da Caravaggio maintains a firm connection with the tangible reality, particularly with his sense of plasticity. The subjects' volumes, in fact, are clearly delineated.

Mariolino Feraboli was an artist originally from Caravaggio in the province of Bergamo, born in 1923 and died in 1992. Better known as Mariolino da Caravaggio or the Forger, he was a painter specialized in the reproduction of author copies and still lifes; his works appear in numerous private collections.
