Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

Michele Carpignano's artistic production draws from the natural surroundings, the countryside and coastline of Puglia. For this reason, his vocation is naturally naturalistic. The approach is highly classical, with a harmonious and balanced composition. The colors are bright and full of light. The highly cursive style lends a fresh feel to the landscape.

Michele Carpignano was born in Palagianello in 1958. He attended the Art School in Taranto but did not complete it, finding his inspiration in the Apulian landscapes. He is a painter with a highly poetic vision of nature, which he expresses in a classical figurative language with an impressionist-inspired approach.
