Flowers as a subject in themselves began to appear in still lifes, a genre that emerged in the early 17th century. He experimented with numerous techniques, but his greatest achievements were with his floral subjects. Cascella's style of painting is simultaneously investigative. He remains faithful to a naturalistic approach, but his technique is dedicated to capturing all the chromatic and luminous vibrations of the floral world.
