Description of the work
Description of the work
The work depicts a large yellow field, crisscrossed by an abundant bloom of red poppies. The flowers are distributed naturally across the entire surface, creating a strong chromatic contrast with the background. In the distance, a few houses and groups of trees can be glimpsed, gently breaking the horizon.
This graphic art exhibits Michele Cascella's signature style, with essential lines and a simple yet effective composition. The work conveys a sense of lightness and harmony, typical of his depiction of nature. The colors are delicate and well-balanced, while the shapes are clearly defined, creating an elegant image.
Michele Cascella (Ortona, 1892 – Milan, 1989) was an Italian artist known for his depictions of flowers, landscapes, and seascapes. Born into an artistic family, he trained alongside his father Basilio and brother Tommaso, developing a passion for plein air painting from a young age. During the First World War, he documented life at the front with his drawings. After the conflict, he settled in Milan, where he received significant recognition, thanks in part to critical acclaim. He exhibited in Italy and abroad, and today his works are held in prestigious public and private collections.
