These types of domestic subjects were long considered minor and only began to spread in Western art starting in the 17th century. Only with the development of 19th-century realism did everyday subjects become considered as important as historical or religious ones. The artist Mino Argento specialized in peasant-themed genre scenes, in which he depicts the world and activities of the countryside in a simultaneously lyrical and realistic manner.

Artist Mino Argento's style is primarily based on color. The entire representation of space and subject is based on a structural pictorial approach, yet one that simultaneously ensures freshness and immediacy. Argento's brushstrokes are characterized by rapid flickers that delineate forms with just a few touches. The result is a highly lyrical interpretation of landscape and genre scenes.

Mino Argento was an architect born in Rome in 1927. He was a prolific painter during his figurative period in Italy until 1968, and found a new expressive medium, based on abstraction and geometric forms dominated by color, in his new homeland, America. His connection to Italy never wavered, thanks to his presence at renowned art exhibitions, which was strengthened by Argento leading a large group of international artists working in Friuli after the 1976 earthquake in the FRIAM group. In every reconstructed Friulian town, important artistic works promoted by Mino Argento are present.
