Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has always been an artist's aspiration. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the 16th century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

This work is an elegant drawing in which painter Mino Beppi conducts a landscape study. Using a rapid, cursive style, the artist demonstrates his analysis of the volumes of the houses and their interaction in space. The artist's skill combines a certain precision in the naturalistic rendering of the landscape with a freshness and immediacy in the representation.

Mino Beppi was a painter originally from Gardone Val Trompia, where he was born in 1913. From an early age, he showed a propensity for drawing. He trained in Brescia under the guidance of the Mozzoni brothers, and in 1958 he exhibited his work in his first solo show with Giuseppe Mozzoni. In the following years, he held several solo exhibitions in his hometown, as well as in other Italian towns (Bolzano 1963, Gardone Riviera and Lumezzane 1965, Boario 1967, Vallio 1968/72, Iseo and Sale Marasino 1970, Brescia 1976, Florence 1996). He passed away in 2007 in Solliera, near Modena.
