Description of the work
Description of the work
In the history of art, a clear distinction can often be made between currents
figurative or abstract stylistic. However, when an artist's aim is to
to represent an object that corresponds to phenomenal reality but,
at the same time, this border is full of hidden and symbolic meanings
can become labile. Symbolism or Expressionism are stylistic currents
emblematic in having interpreted reality in a conceptual sense with a
iconic rendering of images and a symbolic interpretation in the use of color.
In the artistic production of Mirko Pagliacci, one of the most important exponents
of Metropolism, different styles mix together integrating figurative quotations
expressive media that even look towards the Informal.
The artistic movement of Metropolism, born between the end of the 80s and the beginning of the 90s
of the 90s, proposed, in conjunction with the Transavanguardia, the return
to the traditional means of painting and a more in-depth research on the contents.
In this regard, Mirko Pagliacci's works propose
a reflection on time, creating extremely complex compositions
based on a trans-cultural syncretism. In the works of Mirko Pagliacci,
in fact, post-archaeological elements mix with images of the
contemporaneity. The whole thing is proposed with a fusion of styles where the finding
archaeological, reproduced almost as a ready-made, is combined with
an informal elaboration of the compositional space, where the pictorial gesture
coexists with the sign and writing.
Mirko Pagliacci was born in Lausanne in 1959. He graduated in Rome at the First
Art High School on Via Ripetta with teachers Nicola Carrino of the Forma 1 Group
and Amelio Roccamonte of Spatialism and then, always in Rome, he studied at the
Nude School of the Academy of Fine Arts with Antonio Avenessian and Giulio
Turcato. In 2000 he joined the Metropolismo artistic movement.
