Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has always been an artist's aspiration. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the 16th century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
Cesare Mischiatti's landscapes are distinguished by a total immersion in nature, leading the painter to interpret the view in an almost expressionist manner. This expressionism focuses primarily on the application of color, which Mischiatti uses to reduce nature to a high degree of abstraction. His brushstrokes are extremely cursive, constructing objects with extremely rapid washes of color. However, the connection with phenomenal reality is not completely lost; it is merely distorted in a highly expressive manner. The formal unity of the work's surface is achieved through a consistent choice of tones.
Cesare Mischiatti is a Bolognese painter born in 1918. He had his studio and permanent exhibition at number 10 Via Bentivogli. He trained under the guidance of Altea Cortesi at the Brera Academy.
