Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
Murati's work displays marked eclecticism in its constant experimental pursuit of new stylistic registers. In this work in particular, Murati draws inspiration from a naïve conception of artistic practice, characterized by a simultaneously conscious and instinctive simplification of subjects, aiming to restore the primary values of purity and simplicity in the representation. The artist's simplification of reality, however, embodies several creative elements, evident in the complexity of the drawing and the exploration of a dense, vaporous application of color. The result is a landscape imbued with a fairy-tale-like expressionism.
As we can see from the analysis of this work, the artist Murati is always searching for new and original stylistic registers ranging from post-impressionism to expressionism to a naive language with a fairytale flavour.
