Description of the work
Description of the work
The "Still Life" genre emerged in the early 17th century. It consisted of compositions of inanimate subjects, most often flowers or fruit. While initially it was an opportunity for painters to experiment with naturalistic or photographic reproductions of reality, with contemporary art, the "Still Life" also became a way of interpreting reality. Indeed, as happened, for example, in the Cubist avant-garde or in Giorgio Morandi, the in-depth exploration of objects was aimed at a conceptual representation, taken beyond the mere sensory aspect.
Nada Pakasin, within the context of a naïve interpretation of sensory reality, truly achieves, in her artistic production, a perfect balance between mimesis and lyricism. Indeed, at the heart of her essentially figurative language lies, undoubtedly, a flawless naturalistic rendering of flowers and the violin. Nada Pakasin stands out for her flawless reproduction of each individual petal, even with a certain plastic consistency and a consequent determination of space within the painting. At the same time, however, the expressive power of her style lies essentially in the pictorial application. Nada Pakasin's brushstrokes are lively, impressionistic in inspiration, ready to capture every single vibration of light or atmosphere on the flowers, the violin, or the open book. Furthermore, the brushstrokes are dense with color, and the palette is always determined by a coherent tonal unity enlivened by the glass support.
Nada Pakasin was born in 1960 in Hlebine. She began painting in elementary school and exhibited for the first time in 1975. She is a member of the "Podravka 72" fine arts section. She has exhibited in several solo and numerous group shows both in Croatia and abroad. In terms of subject matter, Nada chooses traditional depictions of everyday rural life. Her favorite themes are the life of rural hunters and their adventures, the romantic life of the gypsies, and, of course, the vineyards of Bilogora Mountain and the lush landscapes of Podravina. In recent years, she has often painted river branches and bodies of water with lush vegetation. Her paintings demonstrate that she has fully developed her own individual style, independent of the prevailing trends in naive painting.
