Description of the work
Description of the work
This sculpture is inspired by a type of panel, widespread in the Middle Ages, dedicated to the worship of a single saint. The central panel features the saint himself, while the sides, divided into panels, depict episodes from his life. Artist Nadia Lucidi has reworked this model according to her own style and research into a bas-relief sculpture.
The sculpture is a typical example of the artistic language pursued by Nadia Lucidi. The artist has developed a unique taste for elegantly elongated proportions. Technically, Nadia Lucidi's hand always displays remarkable skill. The bodies exude an expressionist vigor in the way the forms are synthesized, almost brutally. The entire composition, therefore, has an extremely vibrant and frenetic rhythm, a hallmark of Nadia Lucidi's sculptural practice. Yet, even within this great dynamism, this artist's expressive ability is such that the subject always remains clear and highly communicative.
Nadia Lucidi is an artist from Terni who is highly regarded for her production of sacred art in a predominantly expressionist style.
