Description of the work
Description of the work
The human figure has always been at the center of artistic research. Since the classical age, the naturalistic rendering of human anatomy has been a primary goal of painters and sculptors throughout history. The representation of the nude is the ultimate expression of this aspiration, pervasive across all eras and stylistic trends. Indeed, in addition to the naturalistic interpretations of the Renaissance and various classicisms, which aimed for a truthful and detailed representation of the human body, the nude has also played a leading role in the new aesthetic concepts brought about by the historical avant-garde movements, such as Cubism, Expressionism, and Surrealism.

Natino Chirico's exploration of the human figure and its subsequent interpretation coherently bring together several interesting stylistic approaches. The artist does not reject form; on the contrary, it is precisely from it that he begins. Indeed, the silhouette of the human body, captured in the midst of physical activity, becomes the pretext for developing a powerful abstract expressionist language. The human body, therefore, with its strength and dynamism, is a vessel of tremendous energy, which the artist expresses through his pictorial gestures. This gesture is revealed in a striking fusion of chromatic layers that, in addition to dripping techniques, also rely on the extremely material consistency of the paint, allowing the work to develop into the third dimension.
Natino Chirico is an artist originally from Reggio Calabria, where he was born in 1953. He trained first at Brera with Domenico Cantatore, then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, where he studied with Franco Gentilini and Arnoldo Ciarrocchi. He is a recognized master of drawing and portraiture, while in painting, cinema remains his favorite subject. His latest work includes works using methacrylate, alone or combined with oil paint and other materials. He exhibits extensively in Italy and abroad. His works are featured in numerous museums, private collections, and institutional venues. Natino Chirico currently lives and works between Rome and Perugia.
