Description of the work
Description of the work
The "Still Life" genre emerged in the early 17th century. It consisted of compositions of inanimate subjects, most often flowers or fruit. While initially it was an opportunity for painters to experiment with naturalistic or photographic reproductions of reality, with contemporary art, the "Still Life" also became a way of interpreting reality. Indeed, as happened, for example, in the Cubist avant-garde or in Giorgio Morandi, the in-depth exploration of objects was aimed at a conceptual representation, taken beyond the mere sensory aspect.

In his pictorial research, artist Nino Parola always maintains an approach faithful to sensory data, so much so that he has been called the "painter of hyperreality." Thus, we can see how the interpretation of this still life is exquisitely classical and traditional, with a determined desire to transfer reality, with all its connotations, to the painted surface. Thus, thanks also to Nino Parola's excellent technique, every detail of the subject is reproduced with meticulous care. Drawing, therefore, constitutes a fundamental element in creating the structure of the objects, which, in this way, acquire a clear plastic concreteness. Then, with the pictorial layering, the artist completes his great realist operation, successfully attempting to reproduce all the effects of light on the surfaces, in a truly Flemish style in the recording of sensory data. Finally, with great coherence, the entire palette is blended in a register of brown colors that ensure unity across the entire painted surface.
Nino Parola was born in Scarnafigi, in the province of Cuneo, and lives and works in Saluzzo. He trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Turin and is known both in Italy and abroad as the "painter of hyperreality." His works have been featured in numerous national and international exhibitions, where he has consistently achieved great critical and public acclaim. Numerous critics have addressed Nino Parola's work, with studies and publications.
