The work has a marked expressionist vocation, which tends to emphasize the expression of emotions. Expressionist art seeks to proclaim its moods to the world and flaunt them with passion. Formally, this translates into a summary rendering of the figures, through a very nervous and animated line, as well as the use of a violent color palette. These characteristics are found in the historical avant-garde movements of expressionism: Fauvism and the Die Brucke movement in Germany.

Nino Ronca's style displays a high level of pictorial quality in a composition that tends to be expressionist. The entire scene is compressed and flattened, with a completely irrational conception of space. Formally, the objects are formed by tormented brushstrokes. A rather arbitrary interpretation of reality, therefore, that has the merit of depicting a scene with great expressive force. For Nino Ronca, the depiction of sensory data takes a back seat in favor of the agitated and dynamic expression of spirituality and emotion. Thus, the canvas is transformed into a vortex of colors that have little to do with naturalism but are entirely connected to the artist's inner self. The application of the paint results in brushstrokes of great gestural impetus.

Nino Ronca was born in Molfetta in 1937. Self-taught, he devoted himself to painting from an early age and began exhibiting at the age of fourteen. He has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions (Hamburg, Toronto, Verona, Bari, Rome, Milan, Turin, Venice).
