Description of the work
Description of the work
The aesthetic of Noble$$'s works, and particularly those from the smartphone series, straddles Pop Art and the poetics of the object. The work is inspired by the quintessential symbol of consumption, transformed into a work of art. In his artistic practice, therefore, the object itself, a massified emblem of consumer society, becomes a work recontextualized by the artist. At the same time, all this presupposes a meditation on the styles of mass communication and advertising language, which places Noble$$'s research within the realm of Pop Art.
Even in the smartphone series, we can see how different aesthetics and visual languages overlap in Noble$$'s works. A key element is the cell phone, a mass-produced object par excellence, reworked by the artist in an extraordinary pop guise. It is transformed into a painting to hang on a wall, replicating the shape and presence of a camera. This visual reworking is overlaid with a pop-media image, drawn from the world of cinema, cartoons, or comics, simulating a video call (in this case between Tweety and Sylvester). Also crucial is the artist's gesture, which, in keeping with New Dada poetics, defiles the object, transforming it into a unique work.
Born in Marseille in 1990, Noble$$ is a French street artist. Nobless (a play on words between "Noblesse" and "No Bless") has embarked on the adventure of art on smaller media (canvases, plaques, etc.). Accustomed to decorating 20-meter-long walls, he now focuses on less monumental formats. The artist uses computer tools for his compositions. They are then printed on vinyl, a process also used by Andy Warhol in Pop Art. A promising emerging artist, Nobless is represented by galleries around the world, including in the United States, France, and Switzerland.
