Description of the work
Description of the work
The work draws on a pop aesthetic in its use of stereotypical images, inspired by mass culture. Pop Art was born in the United States in the second half of the 20th century as an interest/critique by artists of the contemporary "consumer society." All expressions of Pop Art presuppose a sort of double bond with the world of consumerism and the mass media. On the one hand, it is the artwork that is reduced to a mere consumer product, thanks to the use of advertising or comic book language in the works and their serial reproduction through mechanical processes. On the other, it is the advertising images and consumer goods themselves that become works of art.
In this work by Noble$$, the fundamental element is the reiteration of the mass media/consumerist icon of the cartoon or comic strip. This language is reworked by the artist in an extraordinary pop guise. The work is a sort of collage of images, assembled by the artist with an anarchic and Dadaist spirit. The artist applies his touch to this elaboration with acrylic and spray paint.
Born in Marseille in 1990, Noble$$ is a French street artist. Nobless (a play on words between "Noblesse" and "No Bless") has embarked on the adventure of art on smaller media (canvases, plaques, etc.). Accustomed to decorating 20-meter-long walls, he now focuses on less monumental formats. The artist uses computer tools for his compositions. They are then printed on vinyl, a process also used by Andy Warhol in Pop Art. A promising emerging artist, Nobless is represented by galleries around the world, including in the United States, France, and Switzerland.
