Description of the work
Description of the work
10The human figure has always been at the center of artistic research. Since classical times, the naturalistic rendering of human anatomy has been a primary goal of painters and sculptors throughout history. This study by Olga Minardo was created for the mural "Bodies in the Spotlight" and focuses on the depiction of the famous soccer player Pelé.
The present work can be considered a study of the human figure. Olga Minardo's primary interest lies not in the anatomical and physiognomic description of the subject but, rather, in highlighting its forms through a highly pronounced sense of plasticity. The forms, rounded yet synthetic, express a conception of the human figure that is simultaneously harmonious and dynamic. This can be perceived in the regularity and purity of the forms that compose the figure, as well as in their proportions, regular yet tending to expand. Despite the figure's remarkable plastic definition, the artist employs a highly animated and dynamic style that allows for greater expressiveness in the execution.
Olga Minardo is a Roman artist born in 1956. She is a renowned painter with a successful career that has seen exhibitions around the world in cities such as Paris, Vienna, Zurich, Padua, Pisa, Palermo, and Melbourne. Between 1987 and 1988, she created the largest mural in Italy in San Severino Marche. She has won numerous awards and received accolades, including the first Isola delle Femmine prize for her work on the theme "The Condition of Women Today." In 2007, she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the La Sponda International Academy.
