Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

Orazio Giuliani's pictorial style always hovers between figuration and expressionistic abstraction. Compositionally, Giuliani's works are always set in a two-dimensional space, where everything takes place in the foreground. In this landscape, however, the artist seems to turn to a more naturalistic and plastically delineated language. Yet, as Orazio Giuliani's stylistic hallmark, a certain surreal streak remains, discernible in the opaque, rarefied gleams that reverberate on the body of water.

Orazio Giuliani was born in Vico del Gargano in 1950. He trained in various artisan workshops in his area. He later settled in Milan, alternating between stays abroad in Paris and Switzerland. He has exhibited his work in numerous shows in Italy and Europe (including those held in Rome, Paris, and Wuppertal, Barmen, Germany), always receiving critical and public acclaim.
