Description of the work
Description of the work
The bas-relief reproduces Pablo Picasso's "Boy Leading a Horse." Created between 1905 and 1906, the work is now exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
The bas-relief reproduces one of Picasso's most important works, created during his "Rose" period. The composition is typical of that artistic phase of the great Spanish painter, even if the bas-relief cannot reproduce its colors. The scene is sparse, with only two subjects in an undefined landscape. Typical of the "Rose" Picasso is a delicate expressionism, which synthesises the figures with grace and lightness. The subjects are always simple scenes of everyday life.
The bas-relief is a tribute to the work of Pablo Picasso. Born in Malaga in 1881 and died in Mougins in 1973, he was one of the most important artists in the history of world art. After his initial figurative experimentation in the "Blue" and "Rose" periods, he founded Cubism with Georges Braque.
