Description of the work
Description of the work
The aesthetic of Parsha Mirghawameddin's work straddles Pop Art and Street Art. This work is part of a series in which the artist plays with the word "Art" itself, its meaning and signifier, mechanically reproduced and transformed into a work of art in its own right. In his artistic practice, therefore, the object itself, a massified emblem, becomes a work recontextualized by the artist. At the same time, all this presupposes a meditation on the styles of mass and urban communication and the language of advertising, which places Parsha Mirghawameddin's research within the realm of Pop Art.
In this painting, too, Parscha Mirghawameddin demonstrates a remarkable pictorial sensibility inspired by pop culture. The connection to urban and graffiti culture is very pronounced, in the rebellious, ironic, slightly kitsch spirit and direct language that underpins his work. Formally, the use of acrylic and spray paint results in a decidedly painterly gesture, revealing a strong connection to the Expressionist and Abstract movements. The artist's gesture takes center stage as he smears the canvas and recontextualizes it with strong street art inspiration.
