Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a constant aspiration for painters. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

Pascal's style is highly recognizable: his main characteristic is the resolution of figurative representations in a stylistic register with strong impressionistic overtones. Indeed, we can appreciate how the scene is depicted by exploiting the expressive potential of color. The drawn structure dissolves into a highly synthetic representation. The painted surface transforms into a shifting impasto of dynamic chromaticism made up of bright, luminous hues. The brushstrokes are extremely rapid, aimed at recording every single fragment of shifting reality on the canvas with immediacy. For this reason, Pascal's brushstrokes are extremely calligraphic, very subtle, composed of rapid strokes that, while conveying sensory information with immediacy, also ensure a highly lyrical interpretation.

Pascal, as we can see from an analysis of his works, is rooted in a post-impressionist style of painting. Indeed, in his artistic practice, the immediacy typical of plein air painting combines with a desire to transcend the purely sensory, to achieve a more lyrical and emotional representation of reality.
