Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

The style Pellegrini developed in his work highlights a post-Impressionist maturity. The composition is entirely compressed into the foreground, without allowing any spatial depth. The painter's aim is not to capture the sensory aspect of the view, but to capture its very essence, its substance. To this end, the brushstroke, rich in texture, intervenes, which, despite the essentiality of the representation, fleshes out the objects, breaking them down into different planes, recording the vibrations of light and life within them.

Pellegrini, the author of this work, draws on a post-Impressionist pictorial language in his compositions. The sensory element is completely transcended in a complex conception of artistic creation in which the artist's gestures themselves play a fundamental role.
