Description of the work
Description of the work
Portraiture is one of the most widespread artistic expressions, especially in painting, but also in sculpture, throughout the ages. Portraiture is, first and foremost, a description of the subject depicted, an attempt to capture their physiognomy and individual characteristics truthfully and naturally. With the progressive evolution of artistic research, the physiognomic description of the subject has also been accompanied by a psychological one. Therefore, over the centuries, portraiture has also become a means of introspective investigation of the subject, their character, and their state of mind. The processes of abstraction brought about by contemporary art have contributed to this type of investigation.
As we can see in his portraits and female figures, Perazzini is an artist who strives to maintain a living connection with the great Italian pictorial tradition. This tradition is based on a rational figurative style, founded on the exaltation of volumes and plasticity. All this is filtered through a contemporary recontextualization that finds its most direct reference in twentieth-century Italy, in masters such as Sironi, Donghi, and Casorati. This figurative style draws not only on the Renaissance tradition but also on some of the more archaic abstractions of thirteenth- and fourteenth-century painting. All this is interpreted with a modern sensibility, with a pictorial style charged with existential vibrations.
A. Perazzini is a painter who, in his work, draws on the great Italian figurative tradition revisited in the light of a contemporary sensibility.
