Description of the work
Description of the work
The urban landscape was already a popular subject in the Middle Ages and the Modern Age, but predominantly in an idealized manner. Scenes of city life became typical themes with a more realistic interpretation starting in the 19th century. It's worth remembering how, immediately following the realist movements of the 19th century, the Impressionists also placed great emphasis on the everyday, on everyday life, with a certain predilection, however, for the frenetic pace of the city, its crowds, traffic, and typically bourgeois settings. In Giuliano Piazzini's Florentine views, as in the present work, the quotidian aspect prevails, the frank and sincere realism of everyday life in a village setting.
The celebration of the everyday in Florentine views, imbued with essential and primary values, is directly reflected in Giuliano Piazzini's style, through a seamless fusion of realism and a delicate impressionistic rendering of sensory details. On the one hand, the artist precisely describes scenes in all their detail, with a strong sense of urban reality and the everyday life of simple experiences. On the other, his refined pictorial technique allows him to convey a sense of immediacy to the canvas, thanks to rapid brushstrokes charged with atmospheric vibrations. Light thus reverberates across the elaborate scenes, yet without interfering with the precise description of reality. The entire view is characterized by a synthetic line that translates the primary and essential values of the urban world into painting, in a clear perspective. The palette, too, consistently focuses on light and bright hues.
Giuliano Piazzini was born in San Casciano Val di Pesa on November 20, 1932. He lives and works in Florence. He has always been a painter, favoring oil, acrylic, and watercolor techniques. He attended the School of Nude Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and interacted with the masters of the Florentine art scene. He has participated in numerous national exhibitions, especially in Tuscany and Calabria, earning prizes and awards. He has exhibited at: Galleria Machiavello, Florence; Galleria Gada, Florence; Galleria Urania, Florence-Forte dei Marmi. Among his solo exhibitions are those at Galleria S. Frediano and the exhibition at the Abbey of Vallombrosa in August 2006.
