Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

We can see from this work that Pini's conception of landscape is extremely original. Indeed, the recording of sensitive data is deliberately lost in a vague view with strong dreamlike hues. This desire to transpose reality into a visionary, dreamlike dimension is entirely resolved on a formal level. The composition is highly schematic, constructed on very regular vertical bands that suggest overlapping planes in a substantially two-dimensional space. The volumes are almost impalpable, rendered through very light washes of color. The artist emphasizes the figures of trees, metaphysical in their repetitiveness. Finally, it is the total immersion in the predominantly blue hue that gives this view its very evident symbolic and emotional connotations.
