Description of the work
Description of the work
The work depicts a maternity scene: a child tenderly embracing a mother figure, a gesture that conveys protection and mutual love. The theme of motherhood is explored here in a minimalist manner, focusing on the emotional strength of the bond between mother and child. The gesture, simple yet intense, communicates a profound connection between the two. The sculpture has a rustic, raw style, with deliberately irregular surfaces that highlight the natural qualities of the wood. The simple, intense forms express the deep bond between mother and child, immediately communicating emotions. Pinuccio Sciola (San Sperate, March 15, 1942 – May 13, 2016) was an Italian sculptor known for his "sounding stones," stone sculptures capable of emitting sounds when touched or struck. An internationally renowned artist, he transformed his hometown into a "Museum-Town," combining tradition and experimentation. Using natural materials such as stone and wood, Sciola created works that explore the relationship between humanity, nature, and sound, making the dialogue between art and the landscape tangible.
