Description of the work
Description of the work
The urban landscape was already a popular subject in the Middle Ages and Modern Ages, but predominantly in an idealized manner. Scenes of city life became typical themes with a more realistic interpretation starting in the 19th century. It's worth remembering how, immediately following the realist movements of the 19th century, the Impressionists also placed great emphasis on the everyday, on everyday life, with a certain predilection, however, for the frenetic pace of the city, its crowds, traffic, and typically bourgeois settings. The artist Quiv specializes in the production of Roman urban views. In his canvases, he seeks to recapture the picturesque corners of a city that almost no longer exists. For this reason, he titled many of his views "Gone Rome."
As we can always appreciate in his work, the painter Quiv is very skilled at creating delightful and picturesque urban views. And above all, on a formal level, he is skilled at ensuring immediacy and freshness in his representation. He uses a very rapid approach, with sketchy and impressionistic features, in which brushstrokes delineate shapes with a few quick strokes and a bold black line distributes shadows.
Quiv is a painter who mainly deals with Roman urban views, interpreting them with his rapid technique.
