Description of the work
Description of the work
Alfio Rapisardi was born in 1929 in Florence. From a very young age, he spent time in the "Botteghe" of the masters, where he learned to recognize his own style. In 1956 , his solo exhibition at the "Strozzina" in Florence received enthusiastic reviews; in 1960 and 1962 he participated in the "Fiorino". He won the competition for the altarpiece of the new Scolopi church in Florence. An eclectic and prolific artist, he exhibited his works throughout the world, which earned him ever-increasing popularity and acclaim. He is present in art collections and selections, including the Museum of the Kassel Foundation, where his works stand alongside those of great masters such as Gauguin and Cézanne, Picasso and Kandinsky. In 1969, millions of visitors admired the Italian pavilion he created at the World Expo in Montreal. The master passed away at the age of 89, surrounded by those who loved him. According to his wishes, there was no funeral.
