Description of the work
Description of the work
Ray Sugar Sandro (real name Sandro Micolucci) was born in Lanciano on December 5, 1994. From an early age he loved drawing and his true work was born in September 1994 with “La vita”. To paint he loves to retreat to his quiet country house surrounded by nature. Year after year his works multiply. Holding some exhibitions arouses great interest and manages to sell some paintings. In 2000 he won the “Amico ROM” painting competition with the work “Il fuoco della notte”. Ray is a self-taught painter and the technique used is oil on canvas; a peculiarity is that his paintings, in addition to being signed, bear the number of the work, the month and the year. Sometimes he also designs the frames which he has made by skilled craftsmen. Ray's thought is very broad and his works can be divided into introspective rational, introspective irrational, monochromatic, natural landscapes, city landscapes, portraits, nudes, erotic and various. Art critic Professor Mario Micozzi, visiting Ray's personal gallery, described him as a "nucleic" painter. Ray's paintings, completed by 2012, number over 290. His brushstrokes are sometimes dense, sometimes light, depending on how he chooses to express himself. The colors are often very strong, and this is evident in his monochromatic works. His is a journey into being, life, nature, and the cosmos. Ray's work is all interesting and valuable, but the most important is in his rational, introspective paintings, where he manages to express and depict concepts that become works such as "The Truth," "Balance," "Life, Death, and...", "Absolutes and Relatives," "Good, Evil, the Same Person," etc.
