The representation of the nude is the ultimate expression of this aspiration, pervasive across all eras and stylistic trends. Indeed, in addition to the naturalistic interpretations of the Renaissance and various classicisms, which aimed for a truthful and detailed representation of the human body, the nude has also played a leading role in the new aesthetic concepts brought about by the historical avant-garde movements, such as Cubism, Expressionism, and Surrealism.

In this work, Renato Borsato demonstrates the distinctive features of his artistic style: his penchant for painting based entirely on color. Borsato's color is distributed in compact areas and divided into various zones. An elegant black line outlines the woman's body in full volume, with a highly accentuated plasticity. The artist also uses black to create deep shadows. In this way, Borsato achieves a type of representation in which he combines full anatomical definition with a highly expressive language.

Renato Borsato is a painter who lives and works in Venice, where he was born in 1927. His career flourished especially in the 1950s, when he exhibited his work at numerous events both in Italy and abroad. He participated twice in the Venice Biennale and the Rome Quadriennale.
