The depiction of landscape has been an aspiration for artists throughout the centuries. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

The work seems to reflect the artist's desire to create an impressionistic landscape, describing the mystery of the forest rather than its reality, which is interpreted extremely synthetically, with a remarkable reduction, resulting in an almost abstract composition. Only the convergence of the road allows for a sense of spatial depth; the brushstrokes delineate the forms very quickly and frantically, with an impressionistic inspiration and immediacy of execution that invites the viewer to delve deeper into the path. Color is used according to an emotional and spiritual interpretation.

Renzo Del Greco is a figurative painter who has developed his own coherent and original language. His representations are based on reality, but through a delicate pictorial exploration focused entirely on color, nature is transfigured into a lyrical dimension.
