Description of the work
Description of the work
The portrait shows a young girl with her hair blowing in the wind, adorned with small intertwined flowers. Her gaze is serene and intense, direct yet thoughtful, conveying a sense of calm and sweetness. The delicate features and harmonious face highlight the subject's natural beauty, while the flowers and wavy hair lend movement and lightness to the image. The overall effect creates a balanced portrait.
The portrait is painted in black and white, with a soft, refined touch. The windswept hair and the flowers nestled between them create a sense of light movement, while the rendering of the features and gaze conveys emotional depth. Benvenuti uses chiaroscuro to give the face a three-dimensional feel, highlighting the delicate nuances of the details.
Riccardo Benvenuti (Lucca, 1939 – 2018) was an Italian painter renowned for his elegant and intense female portraits. A graduate of the Passaglia Institute in Lucca, he taught Drawing, Art History, and Fashion Design until 1985 and exhibited his work there from 1958. Throughout his career, he worked in Italy and abroad, collaborating with galleries, cultural events, and major clients, developing a style that blended realism with the delicacy and expressiveness of his subjects.
