Description of the work
Description of the work
Riccardo Salvatore was born on August 20, 1985, in Lanciano (Ch). A self-taught painter, he has always had a passion for drawing and the visual arts. In 2007, he donated one of his works (a depiction of Piazza Plebiscito, created using charcoal on masonite) to the Municipality of Lanciano, which is currently displayed in the Council Hall. In September 2009, on the occasion of the 176th September of Lanciano, he participated with a solo exhibition titled "Infinity in Thought" at the Palazzo degli Studi in Lanciano, receiving acclaim from both the public and critics. In 2010, he donated one of his works (a depiction of the Piazza di Rocca San Giovanni, created using mixed media on wood) to the Municipality of Rocca San Giovanni.
Riccardo Salvatore, a graphic designer with a degree in advertising, loves all aspects of art. He is passionate about poetry and theater, having appeared on stage in various contemporary theater productions, as a monologist (with the text "My Father Died a Partisan," available on www.youtube.com), and as an actor in short films and a guest appearance on the sitcom "Piloti," airing on Rai2. A passionate music enthusiast, he studied percussion at the Lanciano Civic Music School.
Participations and Exhibitions
Riccardo Salvatore's pictorial style is essentially metaphysical, with its solitary spaces suspended in the awaiting of an apparition that unexpectedly materializes. In these apparitions, the globe often takes center stage, its spherical perfection becoming a motif charged with both aesthetic and symbolic meaning. In a work like "Extrasensoriali AI," the sphere appears in the biomorphic form of a globular cluster, demonstrating Riccardo Salvatore's fascination with molecular decompositions reminiscent of Salvador Dalí. In this painting, the presence of the female face is thus connected to the spherical element in a vision the artist manages to great scenographic effect. Everything takes place in the complete decontextualization of the black darkness. And thus the face and the globular cluster appear, diaphanous and with uncertain contours. The surfaces overlap, intersecting their colors with great coherence, thanks to the use of a remarkable technique that allows Riccardo Salvatore to layer light washes of color. Furthermore, the subject is filled with light: there is no external source; the group of spheres shines with its own light. Coming from within the subjects, it covers their surfaces with suffused opalescent shimmers. Formally, following the metaphysical-surrealist line, Riccardo Salvatore's pictorial language aligns itself with a deliberately illusory hyperrealism.
