Description of the work
Description of the work
The landscape that artist Rino Golinelli wishes to depict is that of a mountainous area. The image on the canvas is delineated by a simple drawing that becomes immediate in its representation. The artist makes the painting figurative. The landscape becomes the protagonist, becoming the subject itself. Each historical period has provided its own interpretation of the landscape, contributing to the evolution of its description: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the 16th century; up to the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism. The painting depicts a mountain landscape rendered with an abstract and delicate approach, dominated by cool shades of blue and azure. The soft, wavy lines suggest the natural progression of the mountains and hills, creating an effect of depth and movement. The atmosphere is ethereal and silent. The surfaces appear to have been created with light brushstrokes or a printing technique that gives the painting a velvety, nuanced texture. Overall, the work conveys a sense of tranquility and contemplation, as if observing the mountains shrouded in mist or the soft light of dawn. The absence of sharp contrasts and distinct elements evokes a poetic vision of nature, where everything seems to blend into a single chromatic harmony. Rino Golinelli (Bomporto di Modena, December 7, 1932 – Modena, August 20, 2017) was an Italian artist and teacher, known for his contributions to art education. After teaching drawing and art history in middle schools, Golinelli continued his teaching career at the Tassoni Scientific High School in Modena. Over the course of his career, he wrote several textbooks, including "Arti Figurative," a three-volume drawing course for middle schools, and "Dimensione Grafica," a textbook on drawing and art history for high schools, co-authored with other authors. Both texts were published by Angelo Signorelli of Rome. In the 1980s, Golinelli also worked as a gallery owner: from 1980 to 1985, he owned the "Nuova Mutina" art gallery, for which he founded and edited a periodical of the same name with his wife, Elvezia Dondi. During the same period, he collaborated with De Agostini to create a drawing and painting course consisting of eight videocassettes, thus reaching a wider audience and further spreading his passion for art.
