Description of the work
Description of the work
The Annunciation is a popular iconography throughout the history of Western art, as well as Byzantine art. It is recurrent in all historical periods from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. The Annunciation is narrated in the Gospels of Matthew and Mark. Iconographically, there are simple variations featuring only the Archangel Gabriel and the Virgin Mary, and more complex variations depicting the interior of the Madonna's house or even city views. This work is a reproduction of a fragment of the Annunciation painted in 1623 by Orazio Gentileschi, now in the Galleria Sabauda in Turin.
This work is part of a collection featuring reproductions inspired by the great masters of art history. The series features graphics created by artisans using fine materials and great technical expertise.
