Flowers as a subject in themselves began to appear in still lifes, a genre that emerged in the early 17th century. Subsequently, painters, especially the Impressionists, increasingly focused on the floral world as an extraordinary opportunity to capture vibrant colors and light. Thus, flowers began to appear not only in vases, but also immersed in their natural landscape. Roberto Merelli is an artist who has based his artistic language on an expressionism of color. Roberto Merelli was born in Venice in 1936. He trained at the Scuola Libera del Nudo of the Venice Academy. He has participated in several solo and group exhibitions. Among his numerous accolades, he was invited to the XXXIV Venice Biennale in 1968 for his "Figurative Arts" series.
