Roberto Michetti, a painter from Viareggio born in 1940, is a master of minimalist landscape painting. He remains within the realm of figurative painting, albeit with a certain sense of naturalistic rendering. But his paintings are interior landscapes, both in terms of the subjects chosen (desolate lands untouched by human presence) and the technique. Everything is imbued with a transcendental dimension: the brushstrokes are cursive and tend to synthesize the naturalistic element, enhancing the expressionist and spiritual qualities of color. The composition is organized into broad, horizontal chromatic zones.
