Description of the work
Description of the work
In the history of art, a clear distinction can often be made between figurative and abstract stylistic movements. However, when an artist's goal is to depict an object that resonates with phenomenal reality but is simultaneously charged with hidden and symbolic meaning, this boundary can become blurred. Symbolism and Expressionism are emblematic stylistic movements in their conceptual interpretation of reality, with an iconic rendering of images and a symbolic interpretation in the use of color. In Roberto Naccari's paintings, abstract and figurative blend almost seamlessly. This painter's favorite subjects are drawn from the everyday lives of ordinary people, but everything is transfigured into an extremely experimental neorealism, always striving for strong expressiveness.
Artist Roberto Naccari has developed his own highly original language, essentially realist, yet with a very distinctive interpretation. He creates a highly accentuated synthesis of his subjects, reducing them to a minimal and decontextualized essence. Their expressiveness is expressed through the pictorial layering, which in Naccari takes on a specifically structural value. Thus, Naccari's depersonalized figures are constructed in an almost mechanical manner, formed by broad, fluidly arranged brushstrokes. The influence of Edvard Munch's style is evident in the density of the colors, which take on a very strong symbolic value. Indeed, a decidedly existential aspect of his painting prevails in the depersonalization and construction of the image. Beyond this conceptual exploration, Roberto Naccari's style also arouses interest for its high formal quality. Indeed, his technique, consistent with the anxieties he seeks to express, is rich in vibrations that permeate his subjects and the space around them.
Roberto Naccari was born in 1935 in Porto Tolle (Rovigo) and passed away in Arezzo in 2022. He spent his youth in Germany and Switzerland, where he cultivated a passion for art. He began painting at a very young age, driven by a true calling.
